Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system west of Bass Strait is expected to cross the South Australian coast tonight before moving across western Victoria on Monday then weakening. A trough links to another deep low east of Tasmania. The eastern low will be slow moving before drifting eastwards across the Tasman Sea later on Monday and Tuesday. A large high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Monday before moving eastwards to lie just west of Victoria on Tuesday night, moving across the State on Wednesday and over the Tasman Sea on Thursday night, as a weakening cold front approaches western Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers over the northeast and the southwest with isolated showers along the northern slopes of the ranges.Showers falling as snow down to 800 metres. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Monday 22 JulyEarly fog and frost patches inland. Scattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers reaching the northern plains. Snowfalls down to 900 metres at first, rising to 1100 metres. Cold with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds shifting southwesterly late in the day and freshening.Tuesday 23 JulyEarly fog and frost patches. Scattered showers over southern and mountain districts, more extensive in the far east and contracting eastwards during the day. Snowfalls down to 1200 metres at first. Cool to cold, moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at first along the Gippsland coast but gradually easing.Wednesday 24 JulyEarly fog and frost inland. Isolated showers in the south and east clearing. Cool day with generally light south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 25 JulyMorning frost and fog then fine until isolated showers developing in the west at night. Cool to mild day with light to moderate northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
