Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure will pass to the southwest of Victoria tonight as an associated low pressure trough continues to move eastwards crosses the State. An unstable northwesterly airflow will follow across the State during Friday and over the weekend as a low pressure complex forms to the south of Victoria. The low will move over the Tasman Sea on Monday as the next high pressure system moves over the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA band of rain and isolated thunderstorms over central districts, moving over eastern districts tonight. Local heavy falls possible over the north central and northeastern districts. Isolated showers following rain band, mainly over the southwest. Strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds.Friday 19 JulyRain and isolated thunderstorms with some heavy falls over the east clearing eastwards during the morning, with scattered showers to follow across most districts, but only isolated showers over the northwest and far southeast. Possible hail and thunder over the southwest and snowfalls lowering to 1400 metres over Alpine areas. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong to gale force over Alpine areas during the morning.Saturday 20 JulyScattered showers, more widespread about the southwest coast and northeast ranges. Local hail and thunder. Snowfalls down to 800 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Sunday 21 JulyScattered showers across most districts, but only isolated showers over the northwest and far southeast. Showers falling as snow above 800 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Monday 22 JulyScattered showers, mainly over the southwest and about the eastern ranges. Cool to cold with mainly light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
