Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong, slow-moving high pressure system over Tasman Sea extends a ridge over northeastern parts of New South Wales. A low pressure trough over the west of the state will move through southern parts of the state during the day today, before weakening and slipping to the south, with the high pressure ridge expected to become re-established over New South Wales by Wednesday. A more vigorous trough and associated cold front is expected to cross the state slowly from Thursday until Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of morning fogs. Scattered showers over ranges and slopes, and the western inland easing from the west during the day. Isolated showers along the coast and eastern parts of the ranges in the south. Isolated thunderstorms possible from the northern inland through to central ranges and Upper Hunter. Fine in the west. Light and variable winds in the west, and northeast to northwesterly winds in the east.Wednesday 17 JulyIsolated showers on the far north coast. Scattered showers about the eastern Riverina and the western slopes of the southern ranges, becoming isolated during the morning. Fine remainder. Northerly winds, freshening in the west.Thursday 18 JulyRain areas in the west, extending towards the central and southern ranges later. Early showers on the north coast otherwise fine. North to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the west and south.Friday 19 JulyAreas of rain in central and eastern parts, most widespread along the western slopes of the ranges and falling as snow down to about 1500 metres by the end of the day in the south. Isolated afternoon showers in the southwest. Fine in the northwest. Fresh to strong and gusty west to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
