Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong, slow-moving high pressure system over Tasman Sea extends a ridge over eastern parts of New South Wales. A low pressure trough over the west of the state will move through southern parts of the state during tonight and on Tuesday, before weakening and slipping to the south. A more vigorous trough and associated cold front is expected to cross the state towards the end of the week.
Forecast for the rest of MondayRain areas from the central north to the western slopes of the central and southern ranges. Isolated showers most remaining districts though fine in the far southwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the west of the state. Northwest to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 16 JulyPatchy rain or isolated showers over central and eastern parts of the state, more widespread over the western slopes of the central and southern ranges but easing during the day. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northeastern quarter of the state. Fine in the west. Light and variable winds in the west, and northeast to northwesterly winds in the east.Wednesday 17 JulyIsolated showers on the far north coast. Scattered showers about the eastern Riverina and the western slopes of the southern ranges, becoming isolated during the morning. Fine remainder. Northerly winds, freshening in the west.Thursday 18 JulyRain areas in the west, extending towards the central and southern ranges later. Early showers on the north coast otherwise fine. North to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the west and south.Friday 19 JulyAreas of rain in central and eastern parts, most widespread along the western slopes of the ranges and falling as snow down to about 1500 metres by the end of the day in the south. Isolated afternoon showers in the southwest. Fine in the northwest. Fresh to strong and gusty west to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
