MELBOURNE - Jul 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea will drift slowly towards New Zealand on Tuesday and Wednesday. A low pressure trough extending from western Victoria southwards past the west coast of Tasmania will continue to weaken as it moves eastwards over central Victoria today. A low pressure system will deepen over waters south of the Bight during Wednesday before approaching western Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers persisting about the northeast highlands. Isolated showers developing in most remaining areas during the day then mostly clearing this evening. Morning fog patches in the northwest. Partly cloudy with light to moderate northwesterly winds tending southwesterly in the west.Tuesday 16 JulyIsolated showers or drizzle patches on the northern slopes of the dividing range, scattered about the Northeast. Isolated showers near the coast during the morning. Morning fog patches. A mild day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 17 JulyScattered showers near the northeast ranges becoming isolated during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere after local early fog. A mild day with a freshening northerly wind.Thursday 18 JulyAreas of rain extending eastwards during the morning before contracting to the east during the afternoon. Scattered showers to follow, mainly in the south.
