MELBOURNE - Jul 13/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system just east of Bass Strait will slowly track eastwards over the Tasman Sea on Sunday and Monday, approaching New Zealand on Tuesday. A low pressure system over waters south of the Bight will move southeastwards during Sunday to pass well south of Tasmania on Monday. An associated weak low pressure trough will cross Victoria on Monday then the Tasman Sea high will resume directing a mild northwesterly airflow across Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday. A low pressure system will deepen over waters south of the Bight during Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of rain slowly contracting to eastern districts during the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers to follow. Isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the west. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds, locally strong about the coast and ranges.Monday 15 JulyScattered showers over the northern slopes and in the southwest. Isolated showers over the remainder. Partly cloudy with moderate northwesterly winds easing and tending southwesterly in the west.Tuesday 16 JulyIsolated showers or drizzle patches on the northern slopes of the dividing range, scattered about the Northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere after morning fog patches. A mild day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 17 JulyScattered showers near the northeast ranges becoming isolated during the afternoon. Patchy rain developing in the west later. Fine elsewhere.
