MELBOURNE - Jul 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high will remain stationary over the Tasman Sea. A low will develop over the western Bight Friday evening, then move southeastwards south of the Bight on Saturday, with a weak front moving across the west on Sunday. A middle level trough will produce a band of rain moving across the State, then a high will become established over the State during Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayPatchy rain south of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill, extending southeastwards during the day, reaching eastern border districts in the evening. Patchy rain increasing to areas of rain to the southwest of Port Augusta to Tarcoola and west of Murray Bridge. Widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms west of Ceduna. Cool to cold over rain affected areas, mild further north, grading to warm in the far north. Light to moderate northeast to northerly winds, fresh at times in the west.Saturday 13 JulyAreas of rain over most districts except the far northeast, tending widespread over the south of the Northwest Pastoral, Eyre Peninsula and the remainder of the southern agricultural area, then clearing over western districts during the day. Isolated thunderstorms extending over areas west of Oodnadatta to Leigh Creek to Robe and clearing from the west. Warm in the far northeast, cold in the southeast, cool to mild elsewhere. Fresh and gusty northeast to northwest winds.Sunday 14 JulyAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over the eastern half of the State, contracting eastwards and clearing to the northeast by late evening. Isolated showers persisting over the agricultural area, west coast and far south of the pastorals, tending scattered about the west coast of Eyre Peninsula and southern coasts. Warm in the far northeast, cool to mild elsewhere. Moderate northwest to southwest winds.Monday 15 JulyAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Marree, contracting northeast and clearing. Isolated showers over the agricultural area and far south of the pastorals, tending scattered in the morning about southern coasts, contracting southwards to southern coasts in the evening. Morning fog patches about the west coast, south of the pastorals and the northern agricultural area. Cool to mild with mainly light winds.Tuesday 16 JulyEarly fog patches over the Flinders Ranges and adjacent parts to the east. A possible early shower about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast, then fine. Cumulative rainfall totals from late Friday afternoon to midnight Tuesday are expected to be 25 to 35 mm over the southern agricultural area, far south of the Northwest Pastoral and the West Coast district east of Fowlers Bay. 15 to 25 mm over the northern agricultural area and remainder of the south of the Northwest Pastoral and less than 15 mm over the remainder of the pastorals, grading to less than 5 mm along the northern border.Wednesday until FridayAreas of rain extending across most of the State, contracting to the east on Thursday and clearing. Scattered showers to follow across the agricultural area with isolated showers over the south of the pastoral districts.
