Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 8/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system over southeast Australia is maintaining fine conditions in most parts of New South Wales today, and will lead to another cold night tonight. The remnants of a frontal system crossing the southern Tasman Sea tonight will bring southerly winds and showers to coastal areas during Tuesday, with the inland remaining clear under a high pressure ridge. On Wednesday, however, a weak trough extending from Queensland into northwest New South Wales will combine with an upper level feature to produce some patchy rain across the northern inland. During this time, the high centre will shift from southeast Australia to the Tasman Sea, promoting fine weather across the south, and any remaining shower activity should contract to the northern coast by Thursday. A low pressure trough approaching from the west may bring some unsettled conditions to the southern inland at the end of the week, but is more likely to affect a broader area as it progresses eastwards later on the weekend.

South to southeasterly winds, tending light and variable over much of the inland.Wednesday 10 JulyIsolated showers east of the ranges in the north, tending scattered along the coastal fringe. Patchy rain developing across the northern inland. Fina and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 11 JulyIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered along the coastal fringe at first. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Generally southeast to northeasterly winds.Friday 12 JulyIsolated showers in the far northeast, mainly coastal, easing. The chance of some patchy rain over the southwest inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. southeast to northeasterly winds in the north, and northeast to northwesterly winds across the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
