MELBOURNE - Jul 6/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep and complex low pressure system well south of Tasmania will move eastwards on Saturday night. A weak cold front will cross Tasmania later on Sunday as a ridge of high pressure extends from South Australia to New South Wales. A high pressure centre will strengthen over South Australia during Monday then will move across Victoria on Tuesday, and remain over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers near the coast and about the northeast. Isolated showers over remaining districts clearing from the northwest during the evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the west and near the coast. Possible hail in the south. Remaining dry over east Gippsland. Moderate westerly winds, fresh at times near the coast and alpine areas.Sunday 7 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, scattered about the southwest and central coasts. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest and central coasts. Local hail possible in the south. Snowfalls above 1000m. A cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwest in the far southwest later.Monday 8 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, scattered near the southwest and central coasts and clearing from the west. Snowfalls down to 1200m.
