Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 6/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep and complex low pressure system well south of Tasmania is directing an unstable northwest to westerly airstream across Victoria. A weak cold front is expected to cross Tasmania on Sunday as a ridge of high pressure extends from South Australia to New South Wales. A high pressure centre will strengthen over South Australia during Monday then will move across Victoria on Tuesday, reaching the Tasman Sea Tuesday night.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers and possible hail near the coast. Scattered showers also about the northeast ranges and falling as snow above 1200 metres. Isolated showers over remaining districts. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the west this afternoon. Mostly dry and sunny over east Gippsland. A cool to cold day with fresh to strong westerly winds, reaching gale force at times over Alpine areas this morning. Winds easing from the west during the day.Sunday 7 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, scattered about the southwest and central coasts. Snowfalls above 1000m. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest winds, strong at times near the coast and shifting west to southwest in the far southwest later.Monday 8 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, scattered near the southwest and central coasts and clearing from the west. Snowfalls down to 1200m. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, easing from the west later.Tuesday 9 JulyIsolated showers and drizzle patches along the Gippsland coasts clearing during the afternoon. Morning fog and frost patches inland, then a cool day with light winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
