Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 5/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep and complex low pressure system will pass south of Tasmania overnight and during Saturday morning with a cold, vigorous and unstable westerly airstream affecting Victoria. Another weaker cold front is expected to cross Tasmania on Sunday whilst a ridge of high pressure will lie over New South Wales. A strong high pressure system will move over western Victoria on Monday and reach the Tasman Sea on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers in the southwest and isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts. Local hail and isolated thunderstorms near the southwest coast. Snowfalls down to 800 metres. Fresh to strong and gusty west to northwesterly winds, gale force over elevated areas of southern Victoria.Saturday 6 JulyScattered showers about the southwest and central coasts. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1100m. Isolated thunderstorms near the southwest coast. Mostly dry in the north. A cool to cold day with fresh to strong westerly winds, reaching gale force at times over elevated areas. Winds easing from the west during the day.Sunday 7 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, scattered about the southwest and central coasts. Snowfalls above 1000m. Fine in the northwest. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest winds, strong at times near the coast and shifting west to southwest in the far southwest later.Monday 8 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, scattered near the southwest and central coasts and clearing from the west. Snowfalls down to 1200m. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, easing from the west later.Tuesday 9 JulyIsolated showers and drizzle patches along the Gippsland coasts clearing during the afternoon. Morning fog and frost patches inland, then a cool day with light winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
