Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 5/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is weakening and extends a weak ridge to southeast Queensland. A complex low pressure system south of The Bight is moving slowly east with a series of fronts associated. A quite significant front will cross southern and central NSW today with fresh to strong winds for these districts, and showers for the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow on the Alps. On Saturday another high pressure system is expected to develop over central Australia and extend a ridge over northern NSW while another front passes to the south of the state. The high is expected to strengthen and move to the southeast, into the southern Tasman early next week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayWidespread showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow above 1000 metres, easing during the day. Isolated showers for the remainder of the southeastern inland this morning, and for the western slopes of the northern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Northwest winds turning westerly, strong to locally gale force about the southeast third of the state, easing during the afternoon.Saturday 6 JulyIsolated showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges with snow showers above 1100 metres. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwest winds.Sunday 7 JulyIsolated in the southeastern inland with snow showers on the western Alps above 1200 metres. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwest winds, tending southwest to southeast in the far north and northeast.Monday 8 JulyIsolated showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges with snow showers above 1100 metres.
