MELBOURNE - Jul 3/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move eastwards to the central Tasman Sea this evening as a cold front approaches western Victoria and then slips southwards across Tasmania overnight. Stronger cold fronts will cross southern Victoria on Thursday and Friday nights. Further cold fronts will move across Tasmania during the weekend whilst a ridge of high pressure remains over New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayClear. Fresh northwesterly winds, strengthening from the west.Thursday 4 JulyIsolated showers in the southwest becoming scattered during the day and extending eastwards over southern and mountain districts at night. Isolated showers extending to northern districts during the evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible about the southwest coast at night. Snowfalls developing above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with increasing cloud. Fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds, reaching gale force at times in the south and shifting westerly in the west later.Friday 5 JulyScattered showers contracting to southern and mountain districts during the day and becoming isolated, although showers remaining more extensive near the southwest and central coasts. Local hail possible with showers and isolated thunderstorms possible about the coast. Snowfalls down to 800m. A cold day with fresh and gusty west to northwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Saturday 6 JulyScattered showers about the southwest and central coasts. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1000m. Mostly dry and clear in the north. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong at times about the coast.Sunday 7 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, scattered about the southwest and central coasts. Snowfalls down to 1100m. Fine in the northwest.
