MELBOURNE - Jul 3/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over NSW is moving eastwards, and will be centred over the northern Tasman Sea on Thursday. A series of fronts are expected to move over the southern half of the State from Thursday until Sunday, while a ridge of high pressure persists over the northern interiors. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayMostly clear. Cool with mainly moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong about southern and western coasts.Thursday 4 JulyIsolated showers developing over the agricultural area, increasing to scattered showers over the southern agricultural area. Possible isolated thunderstorms near southern coasts, with the chance of small hail in the evening. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds, fresh to strong near the coasts.Friday 5 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts, increasing to scattered showers over the southern agricultural area. Possible morning thunderstorms and small hail over Kangaroo Island, the southern Fleurieu Peninsula, and the South East district. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, stronger near the coasts, easing during the day.Saturday 6 JulyScattered showers about southern coasts and ranges. Isolated showers over the remainder of the southern agricultural area and about western coasts. Generally cool to cold with moderating southwest to northwesterly winds in the south. Light and variable winds inland.Sunday 7 JulyIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and near western coasts. Cool with chiefly light winds, tending moderate northwesterly in the south. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon through to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, with isolated falls of 15 to 30 mm possible about southern coasts and ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected over the Flinders and south of the Pastoral districts.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and western coasts, contracting southwards and clearing early Tuesday. Patchy rain developing in the far northwest late Monday, extending southeastwards over areas to the east of Coober Pedy to Renmark during Wednesday.
