MELBOURNE - Jul 3/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move across southern New South Wales today. A cold front will move over the Bight today before weakening and sliding southeastwards over Tasmania tonight. Stronger cold fronts will cross Victoria on Thursday and Friday nights. Further cold fronts will move across Tasmania during the weekend whilst a ridge of high pressure remains over New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from early fog patches in the north and morning drizzle patches about the northeast highlands. Mild and becoming mostly sunny with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strengthening later from the west.Thursday 4 JulyIsolated showers in the southwest becoming scattered during the day and extending eastwards over southern and mountain districts at night. Isolated showers extending to northern districts during the evening. Isolated thunderstorms with local hail possible about the southwest coast at night. Snowfalls developing above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with increasing cloud and fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds shifting westerly in the west later.Friday 5 JulyScattered showers contracting to southern and mountain districts during the morning and becoming isolated, although showers remaining more extensive near the southwest and central coasts with isolated thunderstorms and local hail possible during the morning. Snowfalls above 1000m. A cool to cold day with fresh westerly winds, strong at times near the coast.Saturday 6 JulyScattered showers about the southwest and central coasts. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1000m. Mostly dry in the north with the chance of a shower over the northern plains.
