Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
A Severe Weather Warning is current for damaging winds and
dangerous surf in the Southeast Coast district.
A Gale Warning is current for coastal waters between Sandy Cape and Point
Danger.
A Strong Wind Warning is current for coastal waters between Gladstone and
Burnett Heads.
A Strong Wind Warning is current for Moreton Bay.
A Strong Wind Warning is current for southeast Gulf of Carpentaria waters.

Weather Situation
A high [1028 hPa] lies over South Australia and is expected to remain slow
moving during today. At 4am EST, a low [1004 hPa] was located off the southeast
coast of Queensland, approximately 180 kilometres northeast of Cape Moreton. The
low is expected to remain slow moving this morning before moving generally
eastwards during this afternoon and evening. An upper level trough and low is
located off the southern Queensland coast and expected to move east during the
day.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Cloudy over the southeast with scattered squally showers and rain about the
Southeast Coast district easing during the day. Cloudy with isolated showers and
areas of drizzle over remaining southeast districts and the Capricornia
district. Fine and mostly sunny across the rest of the state. Moderate to fresh
southwest to southeast winds for most parts. Winds reaching strong to gale force
and gusty with possible damaging wind gusts about parts of the Southeast Coast
district, easing during the day. Rough to dangerous surf conditions, which may
cause significant beach erosion, is expected along parts of the southern
Queensland coast, decreasing during the afternoon and evening.
Forecast for Wednesday
A weak area of high pressure should become established over northern New
South Wales, whilst the low pressure area offshore should continue to move to
the east across the Tasman Sea. Most of the state should be fine and mostly
sunny with only isolated showers about parts of the east coast in the onshore
flow. Some early frost about parts of the southeast interior. Rough surf
conditions decreasing along the southern Queensland coast.
Forecast for Thursday
The area of high pressure should migrate over eastern Australia and into the
Tasman Sea, with a surface trough expected to enter the west of the state later
in the day. Isolated showers are expected about the east coast  and developing
over the eastern interior in the afternoon and evening. Some morning drizzle is
possible in the eastern interior. The remainder of the state should be fine and
mostly sunny and temperatures should increase over the western and southern
interior ahead of the approaching trough. Some early frost is possible about the
Granite Belt.
Forecast for Friday
The high should remain over the Tasman Sea with a predominantly easterly
airflow onto the east Queensland coast with isolated showers. Mostly cloudy with
isolated showers about eastern districts and the central interior. Fine in the
west. Warm temperatures in the west and southern interior.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
A new ridge of high pressure should establish itself over southern Australia
resulting in fine and mostly sunny conditions across Queensland except for some
isolated showers about the northern and eastern tropics and along the remaining
east coast.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Tuesday.
