MELBOURNE - Jul 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over South Australia will move across southern New South Wales on Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile a series of weak cold fronts embedded in a westerly airflow south of the continent will clip Tasmania but not directly affect Victoria. A stronger cold front will cross Victoria on Thursday night and Friday morning, with another cold front to follow through Bass Strait on Friday night. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from isolated showers in the southwest and drizzle patches about the ranges. Morning fog patches in the north. A cool to mild day with a light to moderate west to northwesterly wind, fresh at times near the coast.Wednesday 3 JulyEarly drizzle patches about the northeast highlands and isolated showers possible about the far southwest coast late in the day. A generally fine, cool to mild and mostly sunny day otherwise. Light to moderate north to northwesterly wind, locally fresh in the south.Thursday 4 JulyIsolated showers in the southwest becoming scattered during the day and extending eastwards over southern and mountain districts at night. Isolated showers extending to northern districts during the evening. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail possible about the southwest coast at night. Snowfalls above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with cloud increasing and a fresh and gusty northwesterly wind shifting westerly in the west later.Friday 5 JulyScattered showers contracting to southern and mountain districts during the morning and becoming isolated, although showers remaining more extensive near the southwest and central coasts with isolated thunderstorms and local hail possible in the morning. Snowfalls above 1000m.
