Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 30/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system at the head of the Bight will move very slowly eastwards over South Australia during Monday then over New South Wales during Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile a series of weak cold fronts embedded in a westerly airflow south of the continent will clip Tasmania but not directly affect Victoria. A stronger cold front will cross Bight waters to approach western Victoria late on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers over the southwest, western ranges and the coast west of Wilsons Promontory. Partly cloudy with light to moderate westerly winds.Monday 1 JulyIsolated showers developing over most southern and mountain districts, though mainly dry over East Gippsland. Morning fog patches in the north. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.Tuesday 2 JulyIsolated showers in the southwest and about the dividing range but generally fine over the remainder. Early fog patches in the northeast. A cool to mild day with a light to moderate northwesterly wind, fresh at times near the coast.Wednesday 3 JulyA generally fine, cool to mild and mostly sunny day. The chance of a local shower in the far southwest and early drizzle patches about the northeast highlands. Light to moderate north to northwesterly wind, locally fresh in the south.Thursday 4 JulyIsolated showers in the southwest becoming scattered during the day. Isolated showers developing about most other southern and mountain areas by the evening with snowfalls above 1600 metres. A cool to mild day with cloud increasing and a freshening northwesterly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
