Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low lies near New Zealand, with an associated trough extending back over the northern Tasman Sea toward the Queensland coast. A strong high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge over Victoria with a fairly moist east to southeast stream over much of NSW. A weak upper level trough is expected to cause some shower activity west of the ranges until Saturday. A stronger upper trough may cross the state over the weekend with a surface trough deepening off the southern Queensland and northern NSW coast in the new week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers near the northern coast and adjacent ranges and northwestern slopes. Isolated showers most remaining districts though fine about the southern ranges and in the far southwest. Early frost patches about the southern ranges. Morning fog patches, particularly in the east and south. South to southeast winds, fresh on the north coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Friday 28 JuneMorning fogs, more likely in the south. Morning frosts on the ranges. Fine in the far southwest and over the Snowy Mountains and parts of adjacent districts. Scattered showers elsewhere, tending more isolated over the ranges, south and far west. South to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly over the central and northern coast.Saturday 29 JuneMorning fogs, more likely in the south. Morning frosts on the ranges. Fine in the far southwest. Isolated showers remainder, tending scattered over the central and northern ranges and coast. Showers becoming widespread over the coastal fringe in the Illawarra and northwards. The chance of thunderstorm on the northern and central ranges and slopes. South to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly along the central and northern coast.Sunday 30 JuneScattered showers on the north and central coast, more widespread along the coastal fringe before increasing to rain in the evening. Isolated showers over the northern inland through to the central ranges. Fine elsewhere. Southeast winds.Monday 1 JulyRain areas on the northern ranges and slopes, becoming more widespread on the coastal fringe. Isolated showers on the northern slopes.
