Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred southeast of Tasmania extends a ridge across Victoria. A cold front approaching from the west will weaken and slide southeastwards on Thursday, just clipping southwest Victoria. A high pressure system will strengthen over the head of the Bight on Friday and will extend a ridge across northern Victoria that will persist through the weekend. Meanwhile the tail end of a series of fronts embedded in westerly flow will cross Tasmania during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over far east Gippsland clearing this evening. Otherwise clear with light winds tending northerly over central and western districts.Thursday 27 JuneMorning fog patches over the north and Gippsland. Areas of morning frost over eastern districts. A cool to mild day with isolated showers developing over the southwest and also parts of the northern plains in the afternoon. Light variable winds in the east, tending light to moderate north to northwesterly over the west.Friday 28 JuneMorning fog patches over the north and Gippsland. Morning frost patches over eastern districts. Isolated showers over the Southwest and Wimmera districts, extending to the Central district and West Gippsland in the afternoon. A cool to mild day with light winds tending westerly near the western and central coasts.Saturday 29 JuneMorning frost and fog patches in the northeast. Isolated showers near and south of the ranges, mainly near the coast. A cool day with light winds tending light to moderate westerly near the coast.Sunday 30 JuneMorning frost and fog patches in the northeast. Isolated showers near and south of the ranges, more extensive near the western and South Gippsland coasts. Isolated showers possible over the northwest in the afternoon. A cool day with light west to southwesterly winds tending moderate to fresh westerly near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
