MELBOURNE - Jun 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system centred just off the NSW north coast is expected to move over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A high pressure system centred just to the southeast of Tasmania extends a ridge to western Victoria. Although the high will drift slowly southeastwards during Wednesday, the ridge will persist over Victoria. The next cold front approaching from the west will weaken and slide southeastwards on Thursday. A strong high pressure system will move slowly over the head of the Bight on Friday as another front moves into the Bight. The front will weaken as it moves across Tasmania on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers over Gippsland and the far northeast. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres. Light east to southeasterly winds, moderate at times near the coast.Wednesday 26 JuneMorning fog and frost patches. Isolated showers over Gippsland gradually clearing from the west. Cool to mild with light winds tending northerly over western districts.Thursday 27 JuneMorning fog and frost patches over central and eastern areas then a cool to mild day. Isolated showers over the southwest in the afternoon and evening, but dry elsewhere. Light variable winds in the east, but light to moderate northwesterly winds developing over the west.Friday 28 JuneMorning fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers in the west. A cool day with light winds tending west to southwesterly, moderate near the coast.Saturday 29 JuneMorning frost in the northeast. Isolated showers extending to southwest and central districts.
