MELBOURNE - Jun 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system centred near the central NSW coast is expected to move over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A high pressure system centred just to the southeast of Tasmania extends a ridge to western Victoria. Although the high will drift slowly southeastwards today and during Wednesday, the ridge will persist over Victoria. The next cold front approaching from the west will weaken and slide southeastwards on Thursday. The high pressure ridge remain over the State on Friday as another front moves into the Bight. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMorning fog patches. Isolated frost over the northwest. Isolated showers over Gippsland, the far northeast and also about the Otway Ranges. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. A cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Wednesday 26 JuneMorning fog and frost patches. Isolated showers over Gippsland gradually clearing from the west . Cool to mild with light winds tending northerly over western districts.Thursday 27 JuneMorning fog and frost patches over central and eastern areas then a cool to mild day. Isolated showers over the southwest and in the far east but dry elsewhere. Light variable winds in the east, but light to moderate northwesterly winds developing over the west.Friday 28 JuneMorning fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers in the west.
