Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system near Adelaide is weakening as a strong high near Tasmania extends a broad ridge over western NSW. A low pressure trough off the NSW coast is expected to deepen and move closer to the coast tonight with rain increasing for most coastal districts. A low pressure system is likely to develop off the north coast tonight, then deepen and move to the southwest Monday to cross the coast near the Central Coast or Sydney. Gale force winds and heavy swell will develop to the south of the low and heavy rain and heavy rain is expected to extend to the southern and central ranges. The low pressure system, likely made up of several transient small scale centres is expected to be slow moving off the central part of the coast during Tuesday with strong to gale force winds and further local heavy rain. The should slowly move to the east during Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayRain areas about central and southern parts of the coast with locally heavy falls and thunder. Scattered showers or rain areas about the southern and central ranges, falling as snow on the Alps. Isolated showers through most remaining districts, more likely about the western slopes and in the far west. South to southeast winds.Monday 24 JuneRain with heavy falls about central and southern parts of the coast and adjacent eastern ranges and possible thunder. Rain areas or scattered showers about the western slopes of the central and southern ranges. Isolated showers over remaining eastern districts though fine in the far northeast. Snow on the Alps and snow showers on higher parts of the central and northern ranges. Partly cloudy in the west. Early frost patches about the Northern Tablelands. South to southeast winds, strong to gale force along the central part of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions developing for the central and southern coast.Tuesday 25 JuneRain areas along central and southern parts of the coast and adjacent ranges with possible heavy falls and thunder. Scattered showers remainder of the coast and ranges though fine on the far north coast. Isolated showers over the western slopes. Snow Showers on the Alps and possibly about the northern ranges. Fine for the western half. South to southeast winds, strong to gale force along central parts of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions for the central and southern coast.Wednesday 26 JuneRain areas on central parts of the coast, extending to the north, with possible thunder. Scattered showers along the remainder of the coast and eastern ranges, with isolated showers about the western slopes of the ranges. Fine remainder. Southeast winds, fresh to strong along the coast. Dangerous surf conditions for the central and southern coast.Thursday 27 JuneScattered showers near the coast, more widespread in the north. Isolated showers along the ranges. Fine in the west.
