MELBOURNE - Jun 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough originating from South Australia will affect far western NSW today and tonight then weaken tomorrow as a strong high moves east to be near Tasmania and extends a broad ridge over western NSW. A low pressure trough along the NSW coast will deepen tomorrow with rain increasing for most coastal districts. A low pressure system is likely to develop off the north coast tomorrow night, is expected to deepen during Monday and may move towards the central part of the coast with further heavy rain likely, and possible gale force winds and heavy swell along parts of the coast. The low pressure system, likely made up of several transient small scale centres is expected to move only slowly to the north during Tuesday, before moving away to the east Wednesday and Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayWidespread showers along the central and southern coastal fringe, locally moderate to heavy. Isolated showers along the remainder of the coast and eastern ranges and in the far west. Possible isolated thunderstorms in the southwest. Mostly clear remainder. Southeast to northeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions central and north coast.Sunday 23 JuneRain areas about the coast between about Port Macquarie and Narooma with locally heavy falls and thunder. Scattered showers or rain areas about the southern and central ranges, falling as snow on the Alps. Isolated showers about the north coast and in the far west, and possibly about the Central West Slopes and Plains. South to southeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions in the north at first.Monday 24 JuneRain with heavy falls about central and southern parts of the coast and adjacent eastern ranges and possible thunder. Rain areas or scattered showers about the remainder of the central and southern ranges. Isolated showers over remaining eastern districts. Snow on the Alps and possibly on Higher parts of the northern ranges. Partly cloudy in the west. South to southeast winds, strong to possibly gale force along parts of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions developing.Tuesday 25 JuneRain areas along the central and Mid North Coast with possible heavy falls. Scattered showers remainder of the coast and ranges. Isolated showers over the western slopes. Snow Showers on the Alps. Fine further west. South to southeast winds, strong to possibly gale force along parts of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Wednesday 26 JuneRain areas on the northern coast. Scattered showers along the remainder of the coast and eastern slopes, with isolated showers about the western slopes of the ranges and possibly in the southwest. Fine remainder.
