MELBOURNE - Jun 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred to the southeast of Tasmania with a ridge extending northwards across Victoria is weakening. A low pressure system over the eastern Bight will move north across SA on Saturday and weaken as it approaches southern NSW on Sunday. A new high pressure system will move slowly eastwards across Tasmania during Sunday and Monday while another low develops off the NSW central coast. This low is likely to move northwards on Tuesday as the high moves to the southern Tasman Sea. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over the west with isolated thunderstorms possible. Generally light east to northeast winds.Saturday 22 JuneWidespread early frost and morning fog patches over central and eastern districts. Isolated showers over the west, more extensive in the far northwest with isolated thunderstorms possible. Isolated showers near the Gippsland coast and developing near the Otway Ranges later. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with light to moderate easterly winds, locally fresh near the central and western coasts.Sunday 23 JuneMorning frost and fog patches inland. Isolated showers about the Gippsland coast and Otways Ranges extending across eastern districts in the afternoon and tending to areas of rain over far East Gippsland. Isolated showers over the far northwest clearing during the evening. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool to cold and mostly sunny day. Light to moderate easterly winds, locally fresh about the coast and eastern ranges.Monday 24 JuneMorning fog and frost patches over western districts. Isolated showers possible across most central and eastern districts, mainly near the coast. Showers tending more widespread over East Gippsland. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with light to moderate easterly winds, fresh about parts of the coast.Tuesday 25 JuneIsolated showers over the southeast and the Otway Ranges, contracting to East Gippsland by late in the day. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres.
