near New Zealand is gradually drifting eastwards and will be located well to the
east of New Zealand by late Thursday. An upper level trough is approaching
Queensland from the west.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
High cloud covers most of the state with patchy light rain developing in the
northwest and extending southeast. Some isolated showers are occurring about the
north tropical coast and offshore from the southeast coast. Showers are expected
to increase in the Wide Bay region this evening and will extend inland as light
rain overnight into the Darling Downs district. Light to moderate southeast
winds about most of the east coast tending moderate to fresh across the tropics.
Light to moderate southeast over the interior.
Forecast for Friday
Patchy rain extending from the northwest to the southern interior,
contracting to the east coast by the evening. Isolated showers to follow over
the Darling Downs in the late afternoon. Isolated showers persisting about the

the day behind the rain band. Strong southeast winds developing the in the
southern Gulf in the morning. Becoming dry and cool over the interior after the
passage of the rain band.
Forecast for Saturday
The upper level trough will have cleared the east coast overnight Friday with
clearing rain. The surface trough or wind change will have also cleared the
southeast coast and move north along the central coast. Isolated showers
remaining in the northeast tropics. Generally cooler over southern districts
with extensive early frost over the southern and southeast interior. Frost areas
will also extend north into the central interior and west to about Quilpie. A
little drizzle or showers may occur near the southern border of the Darling
Downs due to cloud build up from New South Wales.
Forecast for Sunday
The ridge of higher pressure remains over western Queensland from a high
centre near Tasmania. A trough will form off the New South Wales coast and
develop into the central coast during the day. For Queensland little change in
the overall weather. Generally dry and cool with isolated showers remaining in
the northeast tropics and a little drizzle or showers near the southern border.
Once again extensive early frost over many southern districts including the
central interior.
Forecast for Monday
A low now forms on the trough on the central New South Wales coast and
increases the southwest wind flow into southern Queensland. Winds also increase
to strong wind force on the northeast tropical coast. Weather elements do not
change much for Queensland with isolated showers persisting on the northeast
tropical coast. Some isolated showers or drizzle over the southern Darling
Downs. Dry and cool over the remainder of the state with extensive early frost
over the southern and central interior.
Outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Thursday. Higher level cloud streaks across western districts with patchy rain
on Tuesday, contracting to the central coast on Wednesday. Increasing
