MELBOURNE - Jun 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred to the south of Tasmania extends a strong ridge northwards across Victoria. The ridge is expected to move eastwards and weaken on Friday. A low pressure system will deepen over Bight waters tonight and Friday, then move north of Victoria and weaken during the weekend. A new high pressure system will move slowly eastwards across Tasmania during Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers near the Gippsland coast. Isolated fog patches developing in the south tonight. Partly cloudy with light and variable winds.Friday 21 JuneWidespread early frost and morning fog patches over central and eastern districts. Isolated showers developing over the west during the day and increasing in the northwest. Cool to cold and partly cloudy with light and variable winds over the east and light to moderate north to northeast wind elsewhere.Saturday 22 JuneEarly frost and fog patches. Isolated showers in the northwest, more extensive in the far northwest but clearing northwards during the evening. Isolated showers near the Gippsland coast, extending a little further inland during the afternoon and also developing near the Otway ranges later. Isolated snow showers possible above 1200 metres about the far eastern ranges later. A cool to cold and partly cloudy with light to moderate easterly winds.Sunday 23 JuneMorning frost and fog patches inland. Isolated showers possible about the Gippsland coast and the Otways. A cool to cold and mostly sunny day. Light southeasterly winds.Monday 24 JuneMorning fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers along the Gippsland coast and possible along the Otways. A cool to cold and mostly sunny.
