MELBOURNE - Jun 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred to the south of Tasmania extends a strong ridge northwards across Victoria. The ridge is expected to move gradually east today before weakening on Friday. A low pressure system will slowly cross Bight waters during today and Friday but will stop well short of Victoria then move northwards and weaken over South Australia during the weekend. A new high high pressure system will then cross the Southern Ocean to approach Tasmania on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayWidespread early frost and morning fog patches otherwise fine apart from the chance of localised showers over Gippsland. A cool to cold and mostly sunny day with light and variable winds.Friday 21 JuneWidespread early frost and morning fog patches over central and eastern districts. A generally fine day with high cloud increasing. The chance of showers about the Gippsland coast and later in the far west. Cool to cold with light winds over the east and moderate north to northeast wind elsewhere.Saturday 22 JuneLocal early frost and fog patches. Isolated showers possible in the northwest and about the Gippsland coast but otherwise dry. A cool to cold and partly cloudy with light to moderate easterly winds.Sunday 23 JuneMorning frost and fog patches inland. Isolated showers possible about the Gippsland coast and the Otways. A cool to cold and mostly sunny day.
