MELBOURNE - Jun 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system over the central Tasman Sea will be slow moving until Tuesday. A trough associated with the low is moving north along the southern New South Wales coast. Meanwhile, the next high pressure system southwest of Tasmania is being blocked by the low and will remain almost stationary for the next few days. The high will be located south of Tasmania by late Wednesday and east of Tasmania by Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayEarly frost and fog patches inland. Widespread showers and areas of rain over Gippsland, the Otway ranges and the Central district. Scattered showers over most remaining southern and mountain areas. Isolated showers or thunderstorms possible over the northern plains in the afternoon, mainly in the east. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool to cold day with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, locally fresh along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Tuesday 18 JuneLocal early morning frost, mainly in the northeast. Scattered showers over most southern and mountain areas, widespread in the far east. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. A cool to cold day with moderate southerly winds, locally fresh in the east.Wednesday 19 JuneLocal early morning frost in the north. Scattered showers over most southern and mountain areas, widespread in the far east and contracting to the coast. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool to cold day with mainly light south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 20 JuneMorning frost and fog. Isolated showers near the coast and about the alpine area.
