MELBOURNE - Jun 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system over the central Tasman Sea will be slow moving until Tuesday. A trough associated with the low will pass over eastern Bass Strait later today. Meanwhile, the next high pressure system southwest of Tasmania will be blocked by the low and remain almost stationary for the next few days. The high will be located close to Tasmania by late Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayEarly frost and fog patches inland. Scattered showers over Gippsland and the Central district tending to rain over East Gippsland. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain areas. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. Dry over the northern plains. A cool to cold and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate southerly winds, fresh to strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Monday 17 JuneEarly frost and fog patches inland. Widespread showers over East Gippsland, the Otway ranges and western parts of the Central district. Scattered showers over most remaining southern and mountain areas. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains in the afternoon and the chance of afternoon thunderstorms over the Northern Country district. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool to cold day with moderate southerly winds, locally fresh in the east.Tuesday 18 JuneLocal early morning frost in the north. Scattered showers over most southern and mountain areas, widespread in the far east. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. A cool to cold day with moderate southerly winds, locally fresh in the east.Wednesday 19 JuneLocal early morning frost in the north.
