MELBOURNE - Jun 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system has moved to the central Tasman Sea, where it will become slow moving until Tuesday. Meanwhile, the next high pressure system over the Bight will be blocked by the low and will slide to the southwest of Tasmania during the weekend then become slow moving. The high will be located close to Tasmania by late Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers over East Gippsland, tending isolated over remaining southern and mountain districts and falling as snow above 1400 metres. Otherwise dry and partly cloudy over the northern plains. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, locally strong on Alpine peaks and the East Gippsland coastal fringe.Sunday 16 JuneEarly frost patches inland. Rain areas over East Gippsland. Scattered showers over the remainder of Gippsland and the Central district. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain areas. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. Dry over the northern plains. A cool to cold and mostly cloudy day with moderate southerly winds, fresh to strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Monday 17 JuneEarly frost patches inland. Widespread showers over East Gippsland. Scattered showers over most remaining southern and mountain areas. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. Local early morning frost in the north then a cool to cold day with moderate southerly winds, locally fresh in the east.Tuesday 18 JuneScattered showers over most southern and mountain areas, widespread in the far east.
