Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Great Australian Bight extends a ridge of
high pressure across Central Australia.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Fine and clear over most of the state apart from some isolated showers about
the coast over the state's far northeast and areas of drizzle forming in the
evening across the far southern interior. Moderate to fresh south to southeast
winds about the tropics and the western districts. Light to moderate about the
state's southeast and over the southern interior.
Forecast for Saturday
Fine and mostly sunny across the state except for some areas of morning
drizzle about the southern interior and some isolated showers about the coast
over the state's far northeast. Daytime temperatures below average across the
southern half of the state and patchy areas of morning frost over the southeast
and southern interior. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds about the
tropics and the western districts. Light to moderate about the state's southeast
and over the southern interior, fresh to strong at times during the day,
particularly about the ranges.
Forecast for Sunday
A ridge of high pressure should persist over Central Australia maintaining
fine, cool and partly cloudy conditions across most of the state. Some isolated
showers about the east coast of the Peninsula district. Areas of morning frost
over the southeast and southern interior.
Forecast for Monday
The ridge should persist across Central Australia maintaining a flow of dry
and cool southerly winds across most of Queensland. Widespread areas of early
frost over the southern and southeast interior, and also about parts of the
central interior. Isolated showers about the Peninsula district.
Forecast for Tuesday
A flow of cool, mainly dry southerly winds should persist across most of
Queensland. Areas of morning frost about the remainder of the southern and
southeast interior. Fine and mostly sunny across most of the state except for
some isolated showers about the Peninsula district.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Fine and mostly sunny across most of the state mid week. The ridge of high
pressure should finally move eastwards across southern Australia later in the
week allowing an onshore wind flow and isolated showers to redevelop about the
southeast coast of Queensland from around Thursday. An upper level trough also
looks set to extend a cloud band across western Queensland from mid week,
extending across most of the remainder of Queensland by the end of the working
week. At least patchy areas of rain should develop within this cloud band, but
heavy or even moderate falls are unlikely over most areas.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Saturday.
