MELBOURNE - Jun 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system just east of Bass Strait will move slowly eastwards to reach the central Tasman Sea during Saturday where it will become slow moving until Tuesday. Meanwhile, the next high pressure system over the Bight will be blocked by the low and will slide to the southwest of Tasmania during the weekend then become slow moving. Forecast for the rest of FridayRain over East Gippsland with locally heavy falls. Scattered showers over remaining eastern districts and isolated showers elsewhere, clearing from the northwest. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong to gale force along the East Gippsland coast and over Alpine peaks.Saturday 15 JuneRain areas over East Gippsland. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, possibly reaching the northwest in the afternoon. Otherwise dry over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. A cool to cold mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh southerly winds, locally strong on Alpine peaks and the East Gippsland coast.Sunday 16 JuneRain areas over East Gippsland. Scattered showers over the remainder of Gippsland and central areas. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain areas. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. Dry over the northern plains. A cool to cold mostly cloudy day with moderate southerly winds, fresh to strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Monday 17 JuneRain areas over East Gippsland. Scattered showers over most remaining southern and mountain areas. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1100 metres. Local early morning frost in the north then a cool to cold day with moderate southerly winds, locally fresh in the east.Tuesday 18 JuneScattered showers over most southern and mountain areas, widespread in the far east.
