MELBOURNE - Jun 13/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system centred off the Gippsland coast will move slowly eastwards on Friday and will be centred over the Tasman Sea during the weekend and early nest week. Meanwhile, the next high pressure system over the Bight will be blocked by the low and will slide to the southwest of Tasmania during the weekend then will weaken on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayWidespread rain over Gippsland with heavy falls likely. Rain areas also over the Central district but easing to showers overnight. Scattered showers or drizzle patches elsewhere. Snow developing about the Alpine peaks overnight. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the far southeast. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong near the coast.Friday 14 JuneRain areas over Gippsland, widespread over East Gippsland with heavy falls likely. Scattered showers over remaining southern and mountain districts. Isolated showers or drizzle patches over the northern plains. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. A cool day with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Saturday 15 JuneFurther rain over East Gippsland. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts. Dry over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. A cool day with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Sunday 16 JuneIsolated showers over the south, more widespread over central and eastern Gippsland. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. Dry over the northern plains. A cool day with moderate southerly winds, fresh to strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Monday 17 JuneIsolated showers over the south, more widespread over central and eastern Gippsland and along the west coast.
