Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is moving eastwards across the Tasman Sea. A low pressure system east of Adelaide is expected to track eastwards over southern New South Wales today before intensifying just east of Victoria on Thursday. The low is likely to move only slowly to the northeast on Friday then eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Saturday as a high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge to the south of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayCloudy with areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over the north. Isolated showers in the south increasing to rain areas by the afternoon. A cool day with moderate south to southeasterly winds tending light east to northeasterly in the east. Winds freshening near the coastal fringe in the afternoon.Thursday 13 JuneCloudy with patchy rain, more widespread over Gippsland and parts of the Central district with local heavy falls possible. Snow developing above 1600 metres in the afternoon. A cool day with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong near the coast.Friday 14 JuneWidespread rain over central and eastern Gippsland with local heavy falls possible, tending to showers from the west during the day. Isolated showers elsewhere, mainly over the south. Snow above 1300 metres over the eastern ranges. A cool day with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.Saturday 15 JuneIsolated showers over the south, more widespread over central and eastern Gippsland. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. A cool day with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong along the Gippsland coastal fringe.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
