MELBOURNE - Jun 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is moving eastwards across the Tasman Sea. A low pressure system approaching Tasmania today has an associated trough that will reach western Bass Strait later today. The trough will move only slowly east to central parts of Bass Strait on Tuesday and the low will slip across southern Tasmania. A second low will develop at the head of the Bight on Tuesday and is expected to track eastwards over New South Wales on Wednesday before intensifying just east of Bass Strait on Thursday. The low is likely to move only slowly to the northeast on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayDry apart from isolated showers over the southwest this afternoon and evening. Partly cloudy with generally light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 11 JuneMorning fog and frost patches in the east. Isolated showers developing over western and central district and increasing to areas of rain over the northwest during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northwest at night. Remaining dry elsewhere. Cool and partly cloudy with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds tending southerly over the southwest.Wednesday 12 JuneCloudy with areas of rain over the north and isolated thunderstorms possible near the NSW border. Isolated showers in the south increasing to rain areas in the afternoon. A cool day with moderate south to southeasterly winds tending light east to northeasterly in the east. Winds freshening near the coastal fringe in the afternoon.Thursday 13 JuneCloudy with patchy rain, more widespread over Gippsland with local heavy falls possible. Rain easing over the west in the afternoon. A cool day with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, locally strong near the coast.Friday 14 JuneWidespread rain over central and eastern Gippsland with isolated showers elsewhere, mainly over the south.
