MELBOURNE - Jun 5/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will move towards New Zealand on Thursday. A cold front associated with a deep low pressure system in the southern ocean will move into southwest Victoria on Thursday night. The cold front will move across the State on Friday morning while the next high pressure system quickly moves across South Australia and into western Victoria on Friday night. The high pressure system will move into the Tasman Sea on Saturday and will maintain a ridge across Victoria over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayCloudy with isolated showers possible, mainly over the west and northern slopes. Moderate northerly winds, freshening over elevated areas.Thursday 6 JuneScattered showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon and evening, extending eastwards into the central district at night. Fine elsewhere apart from isolated showers or drizzle over the northern slopes of the divide. Fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds, strong at times over elevated areas and near the coast. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day.Friday 7 JuneScattered showers over central and eastern districts with isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts. Showers contracting to the coast during the afternoon. Showers falling as snow about the Alpine peaks. Cool and and partly cloudy, with moderate west to southwest winds, fresh at times near the coast and elevated areas.. Milder in the northSaturday 8 JuneEarly fog and frost patches inland then a fine and mostly sunny day. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with light winds.Sunday 9 JuneEarly fog and frost patches inland then a fine and partly cloudy day.
