Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough across Victoria will move out of the north and east of the State by midnight tonight as an associated cold front moves east of Bass Strait. A second cold front will cross Tasmania on Sunday serving to maintain a cool, fresh southwest to southerly airflow over Victoria. The next high pressure system will move over the Bight on Monday and will be approaching northwest Victoria Monday night. The high will move across northern Victoria on Tuesday and across the Tasman Sea on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayAreas of rain over the north and east with isolated thunderstorms possible. Local heavy falls, mainly near the northeast ranges. Isolated showers elsewhere. Moderate northwest to northerly winds in the north, cooler south to southwesterly winds over the south extending throughout tonight.Sunday 2 JuneAreas of rain clearing from the far north and east early in the morning. Isolated showers in the south, possibly falling as snow above 1500 metres. A cool day with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Monday 3 JuneEarly fog patches inland and early frost over the northeast. Isolated showers in the south, scattered near the central and western coasts. Snow possible above 1500 metres during the morning. Dry over the northern plains. A cool to mild day with moderating south to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 4 JuneEarly fog patches inland and early frost over the northeast. Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast and clearing during the afternoon and evening. A cool to mild day with light west to southwesterly winds tending north to northwesterly over the west in the afternoon.Wednesday 5 JuneEarly fog and frost patches over the northeast. Cloudy with isolated showers developing over the west late in the day. A mild day with light to moderate northerly winds freshening about elevated areas in the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
