MELBOURNE - May 31/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system centred near New Zealand is slowly moving east with a ridge over northwestern New South Wales. During Saturday and Sunday a cold front and trough system preceded by a rain band will cross the state as the ridge weakens. A low pressure centre associated with the trough and cold front is expected to lie over the western Tasman Sea on Monday, whilst the next high will extend a ridge over New South Wales from Monday. This high is expected to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayAreas of morning fog in the northeast of the state. Partly cloudy in the far northeast. Cloudy with rain extending from the west through to southern and central parts of the state. Moderate to heavy falls expected on the South West Slopes and parts of adjacent districts. North to northwest winds ahead of a south to southwest change in the west and southeast.Sunday 2 JuneRain areas contracting to the northeast. Isolated showers in the west, easing during the afternoon and evening. South to southwest change extending throughout.Monday 3 JuneIsolated showers on the north and central coasts. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost on the slopes and ranges. Southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 4 JuneIsolated showers on the northern coast. Partly cloudy otherwise. Morning frost and fog on the ranges and slopes.
