USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - May 31/13 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through May 31.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were lower with wheat trading
mixed.  The board of trade was closed on Monday due to the Memorial Day Holiday.
However, trading resumed on Tuesday with slight losses on wheat and soybeans
posting sharp gains.  Heavy rains across the Northwest and Central corn-belt is
providing underlying support.  Soybeans have seen a recent drop in basis levels
that have soybean prices slumping.  Wheat saw pressure after an unapproved GMO
strain was found in white wheat in western US on Wednesday.  Corn planting
progress stands at 86 percent completed with the 5 year average of 90 percent.
The northern states are lagging the most with Wisconsin at 64 percent and North
Dakota at 72 percent.  This could lead to a possible loss of corn acres.  Wheat
in the southern plains continue to see some damage with winter wheat conditions
having 42 percent rated poor and 31 percent rated good to excellent.  Wheat was
mostly 8 cents lower to 22 cents higher.  Yellow Corn was 3-11 cents lower.
Sorghum was 14 cents lower.  Soybeans were mostly 2-28 cents lower.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 4
1/2 to 8 1/2 cents lower from 8.21-8.74 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Soft
Red winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter
terminal bid was 6 cents lower at 7.24 per bushel.  Minneapolis and Duluth US No
1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 7 1/4 to 22 1/4
cents higher from 9.15 1/2-9.35 1/2 per bushel.  Portland US Soft White wheat
rail was not available per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was steady to 2 cents higher from
7.15-7.30 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 8 cents lower
at 7.24 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 8 to 11 cents lower
from 7.19-7.21 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 3 3/4 to 7 3/4 cents
lower from 6.64 1/4-7.14 1/4 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was 7
3/4 cents lower from 6.92 1/4-6.96 1/4 per bushel.  Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow
corn rail was 8 3/4 cents lower at 6.91 1/4 per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 2 1/4 cents lower from 3.78-3.98 per bushel.  US No 3 or better rail
malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was 5 cents higher
at 6.65 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not
available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 14 cents lower at 12.04 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 14 cents lower from 11.68-12.04 per cwt.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 14 3/4 cents lower at 15.07
3/4 per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 2 3/4
cents lower to 1 1/4 cents higher from 15.45 3/4-15.61 3/4 per bushel.  Kansas
City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 28 cents lower at 15.07 per bushel.
Central Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 3.20 lower to
3.80 higher from 480.80-483.80 per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil
processor bid was 108 points lower from 47.68-49.33 cents per pound.
