MELBOURNE - May 31/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low 1003 hPa over the Bight will move east to be just south of Port Lincoln early Saturday, the move northeast and weaken to be near Port Pirie early Saturday evening. A high west of Perth will follow quickly to be over the Bight on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of rain and isolated thunder extending throughout apart from the far northeast, increasing to widespread rain mostly over the northern agricultural area and southern pastoral districts. Rain turning to scattered showers and thunderstorms west of about Fowlers Bay late evening. Mild with moderate north to northwesterly winds, shifting fresh west to southwesterly in the west.Saturday 1 JuneAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern districts south of Coober Pedy, contracting to the far east late evening. Patchy rain to the north, contracting the far east late evening. Scattered showers to follow over Eyre Peninsula, with isolated showers further west. Cool to mild with moderate northerly winds turning fresh westerly in the west, then southerly across the west and south, fresh to strong about the coasts.Sunday 2 JuneIsolated showers clearing from the eastern border districts during the morning and continuing over the southern agricultural area and western coasts. Possible isolated showers over the remainder except the far northeast. Cool with moderating south to southeasterly winds.Monday 3 June Isolated showers about southern and western coasts, contracting to far southern coasts by the evening. Generally cool with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Tuesday 4 JunePossible isolated showers clearing from the Lower South East coast but developing over the far west. Fine otherwise with cool to mild conditions. Light to moderate southeast northeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday afternoon until midnight Tuesday are expected to be 40 to 60 mm over Kangaroo Island, 30 to 40 mm over the Flinders, the south of the Northeast Pastoral, Riverland, Murraylands, Mount Lofty Ranges and Upper South East districts, 20 to 30 mm over Yorke Peninsula, Metropolitan, Mid-North, Lower South East, Lower Eyre Peninsula and the southeast of the Northwest Pastoral. 10 to 20 mm over the remainder of Eyre Peninsula and Pastoral districts grading to less than 10 mm in the far north and west.Wednesday until FridayPossible isolated showers extending across the State from the west.
