MELBOURNE - May 30/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is drifting slowly eastwards. A cold front and low pressure trough will cross the Bight and approach western Victoria on Friday then will move eastwards across the State on Saturday. The next high pressure system will move over the Bight on Sunday before approaching Victoria later on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in central and eastern areas with isolated showers elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the north. Moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.Friday 31 MayIsolated showers at first but rain areas increasing across most of the State during the afternoon and evening, particularly on and north of the ranges. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest winds.Saturday 1 JuneWidespread rain tending to isolated showers over the south. Moderate to fresh northwest to northerly winds shifting cooler south to southwesterly over the west during the morning, before extending throughout in the afternoon and evening.Sunday 2 JuneIsolated showers contracting to the south, falling as snow above 1600 metres. A cool day with a moderate to fresh south to southwesterly wind.Monday 3 JuneIsolated showers in the south, scattered near the coast. Snow above 1600 metres. Fine over the northern plains.
