MELBOURNE - May 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman sea will move steadily eastwards towards New Zealand on Thursday. A cold front and low pressure trough will cross the Bight and approach western Victoria on Friday then will move eastwards across the State on Saturday. The next high pressure system will move over the Bight on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers, mainly on and north of the dividing range and tending to rain areas in the northeast this afternoon. Showers generally more isolated in the south. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northeast during the morning and over the northwest during the afternoon. A generally mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.Friday 31 MayPatchy rain at first but rain areas increasing across most of the State during the afternoon and evening, particularly on and north of the ranges. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest winds.Saturday 1 JuneRain tending to isolated showers over the south. Moderate to fresh northwest to northerly winds shifting cooler south to southwesterly over the west during the morning, before extending throughout in the afternoon and evening.Sunday 2 JuneEarly rain in the northeast. Isolated showers contracting to the south.
