Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman Sea is slowly moving east. A low pressure system south of Western Australia will move over the western Bight today before tracking across South Australia during Friday and Saturday. A high west of Perth will follow quickly to be over the Bight on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly cloudy with isolated showers and possible thunder south of about Pukatja/Ernabella to Marree. Patchy rain developing in the far northwest during the evening. Mild with moderate northerly winds, turning light to moderate westerly in the far west.Friday 31 MayPatchy rain and isolated thunder extending throughout, increasing to areas of rain mostly over the northern agricultural area and southern pastoral districts. Rain easing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms west of about Ceduna by the end of the day. Mild with moderate north to northwesterly winds, shifting fresh to strong west to southwesterly in the west.Saturday 1 JuneAreas of rain and the chance of thunder in a band over northern agricultural areas and southern Pastoral districts with patchy rain elsewhere, all gradually easing and contracting to the North East Pastoral district by the end of the day. Scattered showers over agricultural areas immediately following the rain apart from over the South East district. Isolated showers over remaining agricultural and southern pastoral areas, easing later. Cool to mild with moderate northerly winds turning fresh westerly, and fresh to strong south to southeasterly about the coasts by the end of the day.Sunday 2 June
Patchy rain clearing from the North East Pastoral district during the morning. Isolated showers over southern and western coasts with possible showers further inland. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday to midnight Sunday are expected to be less than 10 mm across the far north and far west and the Lower South East, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over much of the remainder of the State. Falls of 20 to 40 mm are likely with the rain over the Riverland, Mid North and Flinders districts and southern parts of the North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts. Isolated higher falls are possible in scattered showers and thunderstorms following the band of rain.
Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers clearing from southern and western coasts early next week. Possible showers re-developing over the far west late in the period. Cool initially with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds turning warmer northeast to northerly mid-week.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
