MELBOURNE - May 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system east of NSW will move steadily eastwards across the Tasman Sea over the next few days. A cold front and low pressure trough will approach western Victoria on Friday then will move eastwards across the State on Saturday. The next high pressure system will move over the Bight on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers mostly near and north of the ranges. Moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.Thursday 30 MayIsolated showers, scattered over parts of the north and tending to rain areas about the northeast ranges. Mostly fine in East Gippsland with only isolated showers possible. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northeast during the morning and over the northwest during the afternoon. Early fog patches in Gippsland. A generally mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.Friday 31 MayPatchy rain at first but rain areas increasing across most of the State during the afternoon and evening, particularly on and north of the ranges. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest winds.Saturday 1 JuneRain tending to isolated showers over the south. Moderate to fresh northwest to northerly winds shifting cooler south to southwesterly over the west during the morning, before extending throughout in the afternoon and evening.Sunday 2 JuneEarly rain in the northeast. Isolated showers contracting to the south.
