Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system centred off the northern N.S.W coast is expected to move slowly southeastwards across the Tasman Sea. A high pressure system over southern WA extends a ridge across Tasmania. The ridge will move northeastwards across Victoria on Friday. A cold front will pass through Bass Strait later Friday. Further fronts expected to cross Tasmania during the weekend. The next high will move from the Bight to lie near Adelaide by late Saturday and will move slowly towards Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers or drizzle over Gippsland and near the Otway ranges but a dry, mostly sunny day elsewhere. Cool to mild with moderate southeasterly winds, fresh about the ranges and parts of the coastal fringe.Friday 24 MayWidespread early fog and frost inland. Isolated showers developing in the Southwest and Central districts, mainly near the coast. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 25 MayAreas of fog inland and early frost patches in the northeast. Isolated showers in southern districts, more widespread near the Southwest and Central coast. Partly cloudy in the north. Cool with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Sunday 26 MayEarly frost patches in the northeast. Isolated showers near the coast extending inland during the afternoon but remaining dry over much of the northern plains and East Gippsland. Cool with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the Central and Gippsland coasts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
