MELBOURNE - May 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure over eastern Victoria will be eroded during Wednesday. A low pressure complex over South Australia will move rapidly eastwards across N.S.W late Wednesday into Thursday, reaching the north Tasman Sea later Thursday. The next high will reach the Bight on Thursday briefly extending a ridge to Tasmania but this ridge will be eroded by an approaching cold front. The front will move across southern Victoria on Friday. The high will move from the Bight to lie near Adelaide by late Saturday and another cold front will rapidly cross Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayLocal early morning fog and frost patches in the south and east then a mainly fine day with only isolated showers possible. Areas of rain in the northwest and patchy light rain extending to remaining northern plains during the day. Cool to cold and mostly cloudy with light to moderate northeast wind tending east to southeasterly this afternoon and locally freshening.Thursday 23 MayPatchy rain in the northwest clearing. Isolated showers in the south, scattered over Gippsland. Cool with moderate southeasterly winds.Friday 24 MayEarly fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers developing in southwest and central districts, becoming scattered near the southwest coast. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 25 MayEarly frost patches inland. Isolated showers in southern districts, tending to scattered near the coast.
