Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure will cross the Victoria on Tuesday as a low pressure system moves over the head of the Bight. The low will move rapidly eastwards across South Australia on Wednesday then over N.S.W late Wednesday into Thursday, reaching the north Tasman Sea later Thursday. The next high will reach the Bight on Thursday briefly extending a ridge to Tasmania but this ridge will be eroded by an approaching cold front. The front will move across southern Victoria on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMorning fog patches inland. Isolated showers gradually clearing from the southeast during the afternoon. Dry elsewhere during the day but patchy rain entering the far west at night. A cool and partly cloudy day with light winds tending light to moderate east to northeasterly over the west.Wednesday 22 MayLocal early morning fog and frost patches in the south and east. Areas of rain developing over most western and northern areas during the morning then contracting to the north in the evening. Snow on Alpine peaks above 1600 metres. Only isolated showers possible elsewhere. Cool to cold and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds.Thursday 23 MayPatchy rain in the north clearing eastwards. Isolated showers in the south, scattered over Gippsland and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Cool with moderate southeasterly winds.Friday 24 MayEarly fog and frost patches inland. Scattered showers near the coast, becoming isolated in remaining southern and mountain districts. Snow showers above 1600 metres. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
