MELBOURNE - May 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure will move through eastern Victoria overnight. A weak ridge of high pressure will cross the State on Tuesday as a low pressure system forms over the Bight. The low will move eastwards from SA to NSW on Wednesday, reaching the Tasman Sea later Thursday as the next ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight to south of Victoria. The low will deepen and move to the central Tasman Sea on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers spreading eastwards but clearing from the west during the evening. Showers falling as snow above 1700 metres. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwesterly winds tending west to southwesterly in the west.Tuesday 21 MayMorning fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers gradually clearing from the southeast during the afternoon. Dry elsewhere during the day but patchy rain entering the northwest at night. A cool and partly cloudy day with light winds tending light to moderate northeasterly over the west.Wednesday 22 MayLocal early morning fog and frost patches. Areas of rain over the northwest. Isolated showers possible over the remainder of northern Victoria. Isolated showers also near the coast, otherwise dry through much of southern Victoria. Cool with moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds.Thursday 23 MayPatchy rain in the north clearing eastwards. Isolated showers in the south, scattered over Gippsland and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Cool with moderate southeasterly winds.Friday 24 MayEarly fog and frost patches inland. Scattered showers near the coast, becoming isolated in remaining southern and mountain districts. Snow showers above 1600 metres.
