MELBOURNE - May 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system extends over much of eastern Australia, while a low pressure trough is moving through the Tasman Sea and another trough is approaching southwest WA. The WA trough is expected to approach the New South Wales western border late Tuesday, then move eastwards towards the coast bringing rain to much of the state during the middle to end of the week. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers about the far southeast, falling as snow on the Alps. Fine remainder, mostly sunny near the coast, partly cloudy west of the ranges. Chiefly west to southwest winds, locally fresh in the southeast.Monday 20 MayWidespread frost about the ranges and slopes. Mostly sunny. Isolated showers in the far southeast, falling as snow showers above 1500 metres on the far southern ranges. Southwest to northwest winds.Tuesday 21 MayCloud extending over the west of the state with light rain developing late in the day, more widespread and heavier near the South Australian border. The chance of morning showers over the southern ranges and slopes, otherwise fine in the east. West to southwest winds in the southeast. Northeast to northwest winds remainder.Wednesday 22 MayCloudy with rain extending throughout. Northeast to northwest winds, tending west to southwest in the far west.Thursday 23 MayScattered showers across the state, increasing to rain, with possible heavy falls, along southern and central parts of the coast.
